Fika Time is an ongoing oil painting series inspired by the shared rituals of pausing, connecting, and caring across cultures. In Sweden, “fika” is a cherished moment of togetherness over coffee, a daily tradition of slowing down to enjoy each other’s company. In Japan, where I’m from, we say “Ocha shiyo” (“Let’s have tea”), a phrase that means far more than sharing a drink. It invites presence, storytelling, and intimacy
